The Position: We are looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst interested in growing their expertise in a mission-driven environment, while working on key projects with internal and external stakeholders. This exciting role will provide you with an opportunity to support a variety of healthcare client project teams, while sharpening your business and actuarial acumen. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with clients and participate in the many components of supporting a new business.

In the Actuarial Analyst role, you will take ownership of your work product and work closely with Analysts and lead actuaries to effectively report on and present actuarial information. In this role, you will hone your ability to ask the right questions and demonstrate your desire to go above and beyond to serve clients, providing valuable insights that position businesses for success.

This is a paid, salaried position.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and gather information
  • Review and analyze work products, including healthcare data and financial statements
  • Provide input to the development of solutions
  • Learn how to apply actuarial methods across all health programs
  • Build complex Excel models
  • Analyze large amounts of healthcare data
  • Assist with report preparation
  • Participate in Athena's strategy meetings and provide feedback on Athena community initiatives
  • Demonstrate exemplary level of personal and professional integrity, and ability to support and promote Athena's mission and values

Location: This position is remote. There will be multiple opportunities, and some requirements, to travel to clients, and other Athena hub cities for team building and in-person work weeks.

Candidates must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

Requirements:

  • Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of experience in health actuarial field
  • Working towards ASA or FSA, minimum of one exam completed.
  • Experience in actuarial services through schoolwork, internship, or work experience
  • Creative problem-solving skills to identify flexible solutions to business questions
  • Insatiable curiosity and interest in learning new things
  • Demonstrated commitment to Athena’s mission, vision, and values
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Intermediate experience in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word
  • Experience with programming languages and software such as SAS, SQL or R
  • Proficiency in statistical modeling techniques and data management

  • Experience in health care, Medicaid, or other public health insurance programs
  • Experience in high paced consulting environment
  • Experience with MacroVB
  • Experience with Stochastic modeling
